Optical, microwave and RF Interferometers have proved to be extremely powerful tools for advanced amplitude and phase measurements. They have been used in multiple state-of-the-art physics experiments, in metrology, in gravitational wave detectors and gravity gradiometers. I
will discuss the use of interferometric principles and active components in constructing an ELF (Extremely Low Frequency) interferometer (or phase bridge) operating at less than 20 Hz. This device can be used in EM gradiometry enabling the detection of phase variations in an ELF electromagnetic field, reflected from a conducting target, at an unprecedented before precision. Applications to geophysical prospecting will also be discussed.
